In this chronological series about Charlie Parker’s film and TV appearances, you’ll find more info than has ever been published before, plus every film clip and, where the film was not preserved, audio clips.
Great to hear these bits — I’ve never heard them before. Thank you!
I thought that Green’s Dictionary of Slang — https://greensdictofslang.com/entry/dnnw5nq — might have something more about the origin of “real George,” but it doesn’t. I wonder if the expression could have been inspired by the wrestler Gorgeous George:
Green's is not the only one. I like Partridge--but he also has no origin--he says it's impossible to trace! I call it "silly slang" because for a while there was a similar one where everything was "my Jones," "what's that Jones?" etc. Gorgeous George is not a bad guess though. THANKS MICHAEL!
Great clips that I haven't heard before. And this was just days before Parker visited Sweden in exceptional form both musicslly and physically as can be heard on record.
Great stuff! If you have tone controls or EQ for playback, Bird, the dialog, and the dancer is easier to hear if you turn down the lows (bass) a bit and turn up the highs a bit.
Great! Thanks for this interesting footnote!
Wow! Bird with an accordion! Bird with Milton DeLugg, pre-Band With a Thug! Never thought there'd be a link between Bird and the Gong Show.
I saw that on Delugg's Wikipedia page. I should add it to the post--will do!

Yes, he's in great form in Sweden! THANKS Bo!
Sweet. Bird always cuts through no matter how bad the recording. Thanks Lewis.
You said it! He was amazing.
