Wonderful! What a wonderful way to start the day! Flying to NYC tomorrow to see my boy and the city I adore -- haven’t been able to get there in 17 years. Going to the Blue Note for the first time -- life is sweet!
In 1970, Hancock was recording for Warner Brothers Records- the recorded versions of "You'll Know When You Get There" and "Wandering Spirit Song" were for that label. (They appear on the excellent 2CD Hancock anthology "Mwandishi", a favorite of mine).
Hello Neil. You can listen to a sample at the link that I gave. It’s music without a steady beat, without a clear theme, etc. Herbie’s records for Warner Brothers are probably the most avant-garde that he ever made. Thank you, Neil!
It was a dream reading this
Maybe when I die & go to heaven..
Thanks for posting, Lewis!
THANK YOU CHUCK!

Yes--you saw that I linked to those recordings, right? Thanks David!
Can you elaborate on what you meant by difficult music?

I love that stuff!
Agreed--at the time it was new and strange--but deep!
